It’s an interesting shakeup. Under this plan, it would appear Venkatesham, a highly respected football executive who is credited for the way he ran Arsenal, would keep everything in line. One would assume that Lange would lead Spurs’ team of data nerds while Paratici’s extensive football contacts would take the lead in negotiations for player acquisitions and sales. In this way, Paratici’s role is a little closer to the one he had at Juventus. This would also be a pretty strong indication that Scott Munn is the odd man out.
Could it work? I mean, who knows! But putting control of the football ops under a proven executive like Venkatesham makes me think it probably would. The dichotomy of styles between Lange and Paratici is a bit odd — the Black Box vs. the Scattergun — but it could be a really fruitful and collaborative partnership.

Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties.
Ange joined us from Celtic in the summer of 2023 and oversaw a period of change on the pitch, returning us to the attacking brand of football that has traditionally been associated with the Club, while writing a new chapter in our history by leading us to UEFA Europa League glory in Bilbao last month - an achievement that will live with us all forever.
We are extremely grateful to Ange for his commitment and contribution during his two years at the Club. Ange will always be remembered as only the third manager in our history to deliver a European trophy, alongside legendary figures Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw.
However, the Board has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the Club for a change to take place. Following a positive start in the 2023/24 Premier League (PL) season, we recorded 78 points from the last 66 PL games. This culminated in our worst-ever PL finish last season. At times there were extenuating circumstances - injuries and then a decision to prioritise our European campaign. Whilst winning the Europa League this season ranks as one of the Club’s greatest moments, we cannot base our decision on emotions aligned to this triumph.
It is crucial that we are able to compete on multiple fronts and believe a change of approach will give us the strongest chance for the coming season and beyond. This has been one of the toughest decisions we have had to make and is not a decision that we have taken lightly, nor one we have rushed to conclude. We have made what we believe is the right decision to give us the best chance of success going forward, not the easy decision.
We have a talented, young squad and Ange has given us a great platform to build upon. We should like to express our gratitude to him. We wish him well for the future - he will always be welcome back at our home.

This seems like the most fair assessment you're gonna get on the whole situation. Basically, for better or worse, the guy is a gambler. When it goes badly, it's Russian Roulette football, it's "the injuries are just bad luck", it's cupping your ears at fans at 1-1 in the 60th minute for a goal that may or may not be called back for a foul. When it goes well, it's he bet on himself and won, it's he called his shot, it's he believed when no one else did.
The reality is he bet the house on black (the Europa League), he won, and now the club are saying "yeah, we're gonna take that money and build a nice stable house, thanks". It's logical, but for a fanbase that for years (probably as long as we've been a top 8 consistent finisher in European places) has wanted the club to just take a gamble and go all in on a project (specifically Levy), that Gambler all-or-nothing mentality really speaks to them. Especially when you convince yourself that he's the one who took the gamble and then it feels like the parents are taking the money and kicking him out of the house for daring to go to the casino.
I honestly don't get the impression most Ange In (the ones that became Ange In because of the final at least) people think he was likely to kick on and hold this job for 10 years or anything. It was just a feeling of "He's the one who took the bet and won, he's the one who deserves to use the money and go double or nothing" because going All In and just putting all the chips in is what this fanbase has wanted for the past decade now. What Levy has decided to do is to take the money and go to a safe investment banker with it like a Thomas Frank. Which is objectively the right idea in the analogy but just not exciting and feels like "the party's over, back to real life now".
